Leverage, Balcones Software's database for Newton devices, has shown that a powerful yet easy to use database makes the Newton almost indispensable. Enhancements

Since release 1 Leverage has continued to improve, giving users even greater control over database definitions -- letting them speed data input by tailoring database behavior to individual requirements.

With release of the Newton 2.0 operating system, Leverage has been further enhanced to take advantage of the advanced features of Apple's new operating system.

Connectivity

Leverage improvements include support for synchronization with FileMaker Pro databases on Macintosh computers and Microsoft Access and other databases on Windows computers. Users can duplicate a desktop database in Leverage, make changes on the desktop or in Leverage, and then resynchronize the data in a matter of minutes.

Release 2.0 of Leverage even provides connectivity to ODBC compliant databases such as Microsoft Access and Borland Paradox.

Leverage Features

Leverage supports selection, sorting, and reporting. It provides a simple linking mechanism to enable information in one database to be available in another. The automatic user interface elements are intended to minimize the amount of writing needed and speed input as well as to make efficient use of the limited screen real estate. Leverage is programmable. Code can be attached to fields causing special actions to occur when the values in these fields change.
