The WriteStuff toolset for NewtWorks provides eight powerful tools that finally unleash the potential of NewtWorks. Included in the toolset are:

• Stylesheets - Fast and flexible document formatting with user definable style sheets.
• ScribeWorks - Freeform handwriting recognition for NewtWorks!
• proPoint - Powerful caret popup menu that supports styles, glossaries and more.
• Wordcount - Quickly generate document statistics
• Tabulator - Convert spaces to tabs and visa versa.
• CharPicker - Quickly insert any character using this fast popup palette.
• TypeSet - Nine professional-quality typefaces for your Newton.
• AutoText - Integrates the Newton's expand glossary into Newtworks

All tools are fully integrated with NewtWorks and can be launched from the Tools menu or command key equivalents.

STYLE SHEETS

Provide a fast and flexible mechanism for formatting NewtWorks documents. Use the Stylesheet tool to create, edit and apply your own user defined formatting information. Using a single tap you can automatically set character (ie font, size and style) and or paragraph (ie indents, line spacing, alignment etc) information.

Format, apply and edit styles using the popup styles menu.

Two fast methods are provided to define user styles

SCRIBEWORKS

Enables handwriting recognition directly within NewtWorks. Just write directly within a document just like the notePad. No popup entry windows required. Using ScribeWorks you can now edit NewtWorks documents without the keyboard.

 ScribeWorks provides all the standard recognition features including:

• Full cursive and letter by letter character recognition
• Draw a horizontal line to insert a page break
• Double tap to open the software keyboard
• Vertical line to alter the case of a selected word.
• Single character correction by overwriting
• Double tap on words to provide popup list of alternate interpretations.
• Full support of the abbreviations dictionary
• Instant access to the recognition settings via the tools menu.

PROPOINT 2.1

 Provides the NewtWorks insertion caret with a powerful popup palette of editing and glossary options.

• Single tap insertion of user defined text clippings
• Insertion of current time, date, user name, email address, last dialed # and much more
• Instant access to the Newton styles slip
• Provides single step back and forward actions for the caret
• Single tap highlighting of words and paragraphs
• Single tap word deletion.
• Single tap application of user defined text styles
• Access to the Newtonís full range of font sizes (up to 48 pt) and styles (Italic, outline etc)
• Single tap access to Spell checker and Thesaurus

The proPoint functions are available anywhere there is a text insertion including notes, dates, text fields etc.

WORDCOUNT

 An indispensable tool for writers that allows you to accurately sum up the number of characters, words, lines, paragraphs and pages within a document or partial selection.

CHARPICKER

Provides a popup palette of every possible character that is available within the current font. The charpicker tool frees you from having to remember obscure keyboard combinations to insert extended characters. Simply tap the require character and it will be instantly inserted into your NewtWorks document at the insertion point.

 The CharPicker can also be used to quickly view and insert Dingbat or Symbol characters (if installed) using a single step. The ordinal number for the character is also displayed.

Tabulator

Quickly convert spaces to tabs and vise versa. Perfect for rapidly formatting text files that have been incorrectly constructed or imported from other computers.

TYPESET

When Gutenberg printed his Bible in 1456, he had one font to choose from. Your Newton marginally improves on this by providing you with three. The TypeSet collection transforms NewtWorks into a pocket publisher by providing nine professional-quality typefaces for your Newton.
 Each font is optionally installable and prints in high resolution to any compatible LaserWriter.

 Includes: Avant Garde, Bookman, Courier, New Century SchoolBook, Helvetica, Palatino, Symbol, Chancery and Dingbats.

AUTOTEXT

Enables the Newton's built in glossary to be quickly accessed and used within NewtWorks.
 To expand or insert a glossary entry either:

• Handwrite the shortcut directly within NewtWorks (requires ScribeWorks).
• Type the shortcut and than issue a Cmd-G keystroke to lookup and replace it with its glossary entry.

Autotext also enables you to define quick shortcuts for date and time entry.
